  matthew 6:14-15new revised standard version (nrsv).

  14 for if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly father will also forgive you; 15 but if you do not forgive others, neither will your father forgive your trespasses.. .

  at least on a superficial interpersonal level the above scripture requires the victim to forgive the offender in order to be forgiven in turn.

  I'm not a Bible believer, but for me, forgiveness means taking the evil of the perpetrator no farther. The buck stops with me.

  For example, I was emotionally abused by my parents and the WTS when I was a kid. My forgiveness consists of not emotionally abusing my own family. It does not include excusing my parents and the WTS of their offenses. Neither does it mean I will ignore the WTS and dubs as they harm others. That's why I'm here, to try to help just a little bit.

  It may seem like a narrow definition of forgiveness, but it's one I can live with.

  Harmonicas, bagpipes, accordians, banjos -- these are all instruments I could easily live without (with a few exceptions).

  What movie did you walk out on when a jw? Have you seen it since? What changed?

  ok i walked out on austin powers because i thought it was so crude and god dishonoring.

  since the fade i think it is very funny, still not a favorite but not the end of the world either.

  any movies that were a big sin are nothing now?

  I never walked out of a movie when I was a dub. My teenage dub friends and I watched R movies too. We were such naughty little dubbies.

  My dub mom, on the other hand, almost never watches movies. But my sister (an exdub and just a little bit malicious) recently gave her the DVD, "Pirates of the Caribbean." My mother watched it and told me she was never so frightened in her life. I laughed and told her to never, but never, watch "Jaws," "Alien(s)," or "The Exorcist." I think they would scare her to death.

  he stayed inside and kept going about his business like they weren't even there.

  i engaged them on the verandah hut politely explained that they'd caught us at a bad time as we were doing a big cleanup of the house.

  the elders had even bought a pack of chocolate cookies around, so they were expecting to be invited in and offered coffee.

  missing the JWD glory days

  don't get me wrong, this forum currently has plenty of interesting discussions and posters, but, for those of you who weren't on the old jwd board in the early-to-mid-00s, man...i'm sorry but you really missed out on the glory years of this forum.

  it was really a special, unique place then.

  again, not dissing the current, but, that huge exciting wave of ex-jw internet activity that occurred in the early part of this century seems to have leveled off.

  Check out the archives and "The Best Of" section located on the home page. There were some mighty battles fought between the exdubs and dubs. Better minds than mine have made the WTS and dubs look like idiots using the WTS's own publications and simple logic.

  When I first came to this site in '06 (I think), I spent hours going through the early years (2000 to 2005). It's worth the trouble.

  in the course of my continuing research on why believers insist that atheists are religious, i stumbled upon a website (link below) that proves beyond any doubt that atheism is a religion.

  you can imagine my chagrin upon discovering that i, as an atheist, belong to a religion after all.

  i'm not exactly a member in good standing yet, but i'll work on it as hard as i can.
